Smyyr Has Found His Sound – A New Chapter for the Artist and Music Producer

Blending funk, soul, nu-disco and electronic music, Smyyr is entering a new chapter in his career. Having previously worked primarily within electronic music, the artist has now found a sound where warm grooves, organic instruments and modern production come together.

“At some point, I realised I had been trying to fit my music into predefined boxes. When I stopped thinking about what I was supposed to do, my own sound emerged very quickly. Now I know exactly where I want to take Smyyr.”

Funk with a Modern Approach

Smyyr’s music draws inspiration from 1970s funk, soul and disco. Rather than recreating the past, his aim is to bring its energy and musicianship into contemporary production.

Strong basslines often form the foundation of the songs, surrounded by piano, trumpets, strings, guitars and electronic elements.

“I’m not aiming for something overly clinical or polished. The music needs to feel alive, and the human touch should remain audible.”

A Full-Time Producer Behind Smyyr

Alongside his work as an artist, Smyyr is a full-time music producer and runs Silent Sound Studio. He is responsible for the composition, arrangement, recording, mixing and mastering of his own music.

Having his own studio and production expertise allows him to take each song from its first idea to a release-ready master while maintaining a consistent creative vision.

“Good production is not just about impressive sounds. The emotion of the song, the vocal performance and every small detail must support the same idea. A perfect sound cannot save a song if it makes the listener feel nothing.”

New Songs Are Building a Larger Story

Smyyr’s new chapter is represented by songs including Good Trouble, Depressio and the currently in-progress Sold to the Highest. The tracks range from energetic funk to darker moods and social themes, but they are connected by a strong groove and a distinctive production style.

“I want to show that funk and disco can be more than feel-good party music. A danceable production can also explore difficult subjects and ideas that make people think.”

Finding the Right Creative Partners

Smyyr is looking for distinctive vocalists and other creative partners for future productions. The goal is to find people with whom he can build a longer creative relationship rather than collaborate on only one song.

He is also open to working with a record label if there is a shared vision. Smyyr already has his own studio, a complete production process and the ability to create release-ready music independently.

“I’m not looking for a record label simply for the sake of having one. I’m looking for a partner who understands Smyyr’s direction and wants to develop the project over the long term. The right partner could help bring the music to new media, playlists and international audiences.”

New music is currently being created at a fast pace. One song is approaching release, another is nearly finished and further productions are already underway.
